As many of you know, I have spent the last year experimenting. This series is one of the products of that long and broad exploration. It is not where I started nor the culmination, just one point on a map. I will share some of the ideas that proceeded this in the coming months, which will perhaps give more conceptual context. For now, I need to start releasing work and I have decided to start here. These knives are made by including nonferrous metals in the blade: specifically Tin and (in one case) bronze. It is not inlay, the metal runs from one side to the other, hence each motif appears on both sides (though often with very different characteristics).

This work is experimental. I am taking some risk by selling it. Please bare this in mind. There are likely to be some small pinholes in the soft metals. And yes, they are very soft. They will scratch very easily. I believe that they can be used with care, like you might use a Honyaki. There is a luminosity to the Tin that is a little like Honyaki and impossible to capture with a camera. It is my hope that others will enjoy that visual quality and that it will age and patina with grace.
