Telegraph Wire fused 52100 233mm

Telegraph Wire fused 52100 233mm

$3,800.00

This knife is made from the aft section of a warikomi forged telegraph clad knife that had a delamination problem at the edge. Its always so heartbreaking when that happens. So much of the knife is sound and beautiful but one critical flaw renders the whole thing useless. So I have been experimenting with ways of recovering/reclaiming or reusing as much of those failures as possible. In this case, a new 52100 blade was fused to the tang and aft-spine section of the failed blade. The joint is undulating to give it greater strength and a more graceful line.

I will be writing a blog post soon that will go into much greater detail about these blades.

Telegraph Wire, 52100, Brass, Macassar Ebony.

This work is experimental. There are likely to be some small pinholes in the soft metals. And yes, they are very soft. They will scratch very easily but I believe that they can be used with care, like you might use a Honyaki.

If you purchase one of these blades and experience something that you were not expecting, please contact me. I am committed to working with each customer to ensure their satisfaction. While a refund is an option (within a reasonable timeframe) I would greatly appreciate if those buying these knives would go into it with a willingness to consider first repair, second replacement and only as a last resort, a full refund.

As usual, this knife is sold by lottery. Please enter you email below to be entered in the drawing to buy this knife for the listed price. The winner will be notified on Thursday, February 12th.
